I just launched the Mini Retirement Planning Course
One of my big December goals was to launch my mini retirement course and I'm excited to share that the Mini Retirement Planning Course is now live here!
I'm about five months into my first mini retirement and it's been an incredible and life-changing experience. I'm currently writing this blog post from my Airbnb in Seoul, South Korea—my dream city that I've been yearning to live in for quite some time. I can't tell you how incredibly moving it is to be here, in the place where my parents, grandparents, and ancestors were all born, and get the chance to experience day-to-day life here. Whether it's spending hours exploring museums or enjoying dinner at my uncle's house with my cousins, everyday in Korea truly feels like a gift and a dream. ICYMI, you can read more about my experience in my last blog post here.
I created this course as the guide I wish I had when I first started thinking about a mini retirement. It includes the things I wish I had known, been more prepared for, and have learned along the way. I sincerely hope you'll consider taking this course as an exercise and practice in dreaming big and reflecting on how a mini retirement could change your life. The course goes over and provides templates for defining a vision, creating a budget and funding plan, devising an exit plan and so much more for optimal planning and having a great experience. Doesn't this sound like the perfect experience to dive into over the holidays as we close out the year and plan for 2023?
As someone who has always been extremely cognizant of how my resume looks and have basically been running at 120% since I was in middle school, taking this kind of extended time off was in some ways a really hard decision. How would it look if I had a meaningful gap on my resume? But, now that I'm in this experience, I firmly believe that any place I want to work would not only accept the fact that I'm taking this adventure but would be stoked for me for having the courage to live a life that makes me happy.
I don't think I've ever really had time for myself—to explore what I really want and actually be thoughtful in a way that is authentic to my true self (versus the "work me" portrayed by my LinkedIn or resume). This is likely because I am someone who always doing stuff. I've realized that despite all the "doing" I've poured into my life over the last decade, I'm still not really sure where I am or where I want to go. I don't know if it's possible to be super honest or thoughtful about what we want out of life if we're always busy doing and accumulating stuff. Graduate school was actually supposed to be my two years to take a break from work and do some of this reflection work, but of course in addition to taking a full course load and participating in leadership roles in multiple student groups, I worked six different internships / jobs over the course of those two years. I was more burnt out during grad school than perhaps any other phase of my life.
I see mini retirements as a way to live our deepest desires as our most authentic selves...the people we want to be when we're not dictating our lives by work, money, or what society tells us we should focus on. I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of what I'm learning about myself and can't wait to see what unfolds over the next six months.
If you are interested in the course, you can use code BLOG15 to get 15% off* on one of two options:
